Work equipment can cause injury or ill health to workers as a result of faults in the equipment, misuse or over use, poor equipment selection, etc.
The term 'work equipment' can cover almost any equipment used by a worker at work. This includes:
- Plant;
- Hand tools and ladders;
- Portable electrical equipment;
- Office equipment such as photocopiers and faxes;
- Computers;
- Lawn-mowers;
- Scaffolding;
- Mobile equipment such as fork lift trucks and trolleys; and
- Equipment and machinery such as lathes, presses and lifting equipment.
